"Reaching Romania" is a non-profit making Registered Charity, dedicated to helping a wide range of impoverished, sick and vulnerable people in Romania, including children and the elderly. We are a Christian Organisation that not only offers practical and financial support, but most of all, spiritual hope.

Some 20 years after the revolution, Romania is still dealing with the aftermath of 40 years of communist rule. Since joining the European Union in 2007 there have been some reforms, but with the country currently in economic and social crisis much of the population is still living in poverty, especially in rural areas. During the past 18 months those in work have had their salaries cut by 25%, and already meagre pensions have been cut by 15%, whilst VAT has been increased to 24%. This has put an enormous pressure on many already struggling to survive.

Funding of essential services such as education, health and social care, have also been cut. Most State institutions are struggling and some have closed due to lack of funding. In the past few years there has been a gradual migration of professional people such as doctors, teachers, etc., to other European countries.

Our work is mostly based in and around the City of Arad, in Western Romania, but spans a large geographical area, including rural communities. Our vision is to relieve poverty, advance education and the Christian faith through our support of:
